Witchcraft/Wiccan Spells - End the confusion!

Witchcraft/Wiccan Spells - What’s the Difference?

Merry meet! In my last post I said that I was going to include a free spell that you could do with tarot cards but I’m going to leave that to my next post. I like to build up the suspense! So, today I’d just like to say a few words on witchcraft/Wiccan spells. What’s the difference?

There is certainly a lot of crossover between the two so don’t worry too much that you might have been offending someone. Principally, Wicca is the religion and the followers are people who have joined a coven or group so that they can perform their rituals together to combine energies. They will also receive training in order to perform their spells.

Witchcraft is often more personal. A witch may operate and study on her own, without the aid of a group, although she may have friends that she swaps her knowledge with.

There is also a very important distinction that Wiccans will make for social reasons. Because witches and witchcraft has been so misunderstood throughout the ages, it became associated with dark practises and evil. In order to distance themselves from this, many who would otherwise have been happy to call themselves witches turned to the name of Wicca or Wiccan. This way, they felt they would be free to carry our their religion without fear of negativity and prejudice.

Witchcraft/Wiccan Spells - What are the Similarities??

Both witchcraft and wiccan spells can be performed at an altar.

Both use rituals and ‘prayer’ such as recitations or incantations.

Both witchcraft and wiccan spells may call upon an ancient Goddess or God to empower them, or perform a ritual in their honour (important to do regularly if you want to receive their blessings, whether you consider yourself a witch or Wiccan).

Witchcraft/wiccan spells both draw heavily from the natural world, whether it is calling to the elements such as earth, air, fire and water or from the rich resources that grow around us. Herbs, flowers, tree bark etc, can all be used.

So Wicca supplies will be pretty much identical to witchcraft supplies, unless someone who is Wiccan needs something that is unique to their coven only.

Ok, sorry about the diversion and I promise to get working on the tarot card spells for you for next time!
